I will never look at my parents the same way again.

I know I said I was going to write about by backstabbing friend next, but this seemed more relevant right now. I had an odd dream last night. In it, I was married to my current boyfriend and we were middle aged. For some reason we were talking about secrets we kept from each other. I told him I threw our T.V. out the window on our honeymoon (I have no idea what that was about). And he told me he cheated on me during a rough patch in our relationship before we got married. I told my mom about it this morning, and she told me not to worry about it and that she was sure everything would work out. I asked her how she could be so sure. She told me to sit down because she had a story to tell me.

She said that when she was about my age there was this one girl that was really out to get her. My dad was going to take my mom to a huge end of the year party. Unfortunately, my mom had gotten grounded for sneaking out to see my dad in the middle of the night. She said they had the "I don't want to go without you, go if you want I want you to be happy" moments. My dad went to the party and my mom stayed home and watched NASCAR.

Before I write the next part, I need to mention this. My parents are the type of people that were planning to save themselves for marriage. Therefore, when my mom told me what happened at that party, it really bothered me. While my mom was at home, my dad was having a good old time at the party. He was drinking like there was no tomorrow. While he was drunk, the girl that was out to get my mom was talking to him. Somehow, she convinced him to go to a bedroom alone with her. One thing led to another, they took each other's virginity.

At that point I was speechless. I asked her how she got through it after something like that. She told me that she was angry about what happened, but she wasn't going to be hindered by it. She said she called the girl's parents from a pay phone and told them that their daughter was having sex with people at parties. She knew my dad wouldn't have done it if he wasn't drunk, so she told him he wasn't allowed to drink anymore.

I asked her if she thinks the same thing would happen to me and she said not to worry about it. I asked why she told me that story, and she said that she was really bored and she had to tell me some time, why not then.

Sorry if the story is a little hard to follow, I am not good at storytelling and I got bad grades in Lit class.

  17. Just recently my girlfriend had a dream where she walked in on me cheating on her, and as a result, she was half-convinced that it would actually happen. My advice would be for you to realize that dreams are usually a subconscious manifestation of things that you are afraid of or that you are worried about, not visions of the future.

  23. Parents are never flawless, the shine always comes of the more you grow up, it's odd but it's a part of getting older

  24. All parents are human, I'm surprised most parents last 15 years before their children realise they're not perfect.

  40. Oh wow. Well, I guess the point your mom was making is that people make mistakes and you shouldn't throw a strong relationshpip away because of a momentary lapse in judgment.
